PU/PIR Insulated Wall Panels: Specifications and Selection Guide

Table of Content [Hide]

For industrial and commercial buildings, PU insulated wall panels provide an efficient solution for thermal insulation, building enclosure, and fast installation. Compared with traditional wall construction, insulated sandwich panels integrate the metal facing and insulation core into one factory-produced system, helping simplify construction and improve overall wall performance.

HEADSTREAM offers PU insulated wall panels, PIR & PU insulated wall panels, and metal-faced sandwich wall panels with different core materials, thicknesses, widths, profiles, and facing options.

PU Insulated Wall Panel Core Materials

The insulation core is a key factor affecting thermal performance, fire resistance, acoustic performance, and overall application suitability.

    HEADSTREAM provides configurations including:

    • PU core – suitable for applications requiring efficient thermal insulation and lightweight construction.

    • PU + Rock Wool – combines thermal insulation with enhanced fire-performance requirements.

    • PU + Glass Wool – provides thermal and acoustic insulation for applications where sound control is also important.

The appropriate core should be selected according to the building function, local regulations, climate, fire requirements, and thermal design target.

    Panel Thickness: 40–200 mm

HEADSTREAM insulated wall panels are available in multiple thicknesses:

    40 / 50 / 60 / 65 / 75 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 150 / 180 / 200 mm

Panel thickness should be selected according to the required insulation performance, indoor and outdoor temperature difference, climate conditions, and building energy-efficiency requirements.

For projects with higher thermal insulation requirements, 100–200 mm panels can provide greater insulation thickness, while thinner panels may be suitable for buildings with moderate insulation requirements.

    Panel Width and Profiles

Standard panel widths range approximately from 400 to 1200 mm, with dedicated dimensions for different facade profiles:

    Profile

    Typical Width

    Standard

    400–1200 mm

    V8

    900–1000 mm

    Four-wave

    1000 mm

    Great Wall

    860 mm

Available surface profiles include flat, small-wave, wide-rib, V8, four-wave, and Great Wall designs.

The profile can be selected according to architectural appearance, facade rhythm, project dimensions, and installation requirements.

    Metal Facing Options

The metal facing protects the insulation core while providing the required exterior and interior finish.

    Pre-painted steel:
Typical inner and outer sheet thicknesses are 0.4–0.8 mm, with flat external panels available in approximately 0.6–0.8 mm.

    Stainless steel:
Typical thickness is 0.4–0.6 mm, suitable for applications requiring a clean and corrosion-resistant surface.

    Aluminum-magnesium-manganese:
Typical thickness ranges from 0.5–1.0 mm, providing a lightweight option for specific architectural and durability requirements.

    Joint Design

Panel connections are available in configurations such as S-0, S-10, and S-20.

Joint design is important for maintaining:

    • Thermal insulation continuity

    • Airtightness

    • Water resistance

    • Installation accuracy

    • Overall facade appearance

For temperature-controlled or energy-efficient buildings, proper joint design and installation are particularly important.

How to Select PU Insulated Wall Panels?

A practical selection process should consider five key factors:

    1. Building function – factory, warehouse, workshop, commercial building, etc.

    2. Thermal requirements – determine the required panel thickness.

    3. Core material – select PU, PU + rock wool, or PU + glass wool according to performance requirements.

    4. Facing and profile – choose steel, stainless steel, or aluminum-magnesium-manganese with the appropriate surface profile.

    5. Joint and installation method – ensure the panel connection matches the project requirements.

    HEADSTREAM Insulated Wall Panel Solutions

With panel thicknesses from 40 to 200 mm, widths of approximately 400–1200 mm, multiple insulation cores, metal facings, surface profiles, and joint configurations, HEADSTREAM provides flexible solutions for industrial, commercial, prefabricated, and other building applications.

A professional wall panel specification should consider the complete combination of core material, thickness, facing, profile, width, joint, and installation method rather than focusing on panel thickness alone.
